Nutrheff – Nutraceutical Health Enhancing Functional Food, is a network created by the Bio-Agrofood Science Department of the Italian National Research Council. The network has the purpose of enabling collaboration among scientists, fostering progress and dissemination of scientific research and technological development in the field of nutraceutics and functional food. This research area is actually growing in interest and results due interdisciplinary contributions from agricultural, biological, nutritional and medical sciences, which Nutrheff has the aim to increase: In Italy, as in most Countries, nutraceutic and functional food commercial opportunities are growing fast, mainly as industrial production. On the other hand, scientific research would benefit from an enhanced coordination of the various specialized individual expertises. This network is designed to collect and connect the copious know-how provided by CNR Institutes and Departments in basic sciences and applied research. Both industry and consumers would take advantage of a multidisciplinary approach, aimed to contribute to nutraceutics and functional food innovation, efficacy and safety guarantees enhancement.
