Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
Metastatic melanoma is one of the most drug-resistant cancers that often acquires the capacity to evade the cytotoxic action of therapeutic options. with the aim to identify new potential therapeutic drugs suitable to overcome the intrinsic survival features acquired by melanoma cells, we studied the role of hydroxytyrosol [2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) ethanol or 3-hydroxytyrosol], one of the major phenolic components of olive oil, on the inhibition of human melanoma cell growth and survival.
