Research Interest and expertise in the field of nutraceuticals and functional food
My interest lies in the development of innovative in vitro systems, namely Organ-on-a-chip. These are microengineered tools that aim to replicate key units of living organs and organisms, and in particular to reproduce higher-order anatomical and functional features, i.e.: i) their 3D spatial arrangement; and ii) their physiology or physiopathology (gas/nutrient exchanges, absorption/secretion, cell-cell communication, etc.).

Keywords: in vitro models, organ-on-chip, microphysiological systems, microfabrication, tissue engineering

Nutraceuticals and foods of interest
The tools I propose are highly versatile and can be applied to the study of the effects of different nutraceuticals in vitro

Fields of application
The tools I propose are highly versatile and can be applied to different fields

Facilities and equipments
At CNR Nanotec clean room, microfabrication, biofabrication and cell culture facilities are available to develop and characterize organ-on-chip systems, by means of different fabrication (optical and soft lithography, additive manufacturing), material and biological characterization techniques.
